Built independently, used personally.

I built Flamaris for my own cross-border finances and still use it every day.

The Origin Story

I’m a software engineer who has spent half of my career in France and half in California.

As a dual citizen, I was looking for a tool that could help me keep track of accounts across both countries and make financial decisions with a clearer view of the tax and currency implications.

I did not find a tool adapted to my situation, so I created my own. I was also curious to experiment with building an end-to-end product in the AI era, so I decided to make it available to others. I remain a daily user.

Profits are not a goal for this project. Each subscriber chooses how much of Flamaris’s pre-tax subscription revenue, up to 70%, is allocated to a charity, which Flamaris will name before paid subscriptions open. The remainder is retained to cover payment fees, refunds, operating costs, and reserves. Flamaris does not rely on advertising.

Other tools

I’ve tried many alternatives. If you are US-based and do not need multi-currency or cross-border support, these are worth considering:

Budgeting tools

Flamaris is not a budgeting tool. For budgeting with multi-currency support, I recommend Lunch Money. YNAB and Monarch are other established options.
